Our diverse and open-minded community welcomes readers of all kinds – whether you're a seasoned bookworm or a newbie eager to dive into uncharted literary waters. The only requirement for joining the Page Turners' Book Club is a desire to get together to discuss each month's book! Let's read, laugh, and bond over the stories that make our hearts race and our imaginations soar! October’s great read is The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. We will choose the following months’ books together. If you enjoyed our past book clubs, Voices of Women and Voices of Us, you will love Page Turners' with Beth Knight. She is an amazing facilitator and teacher. Join us for book club spread across three separate sessions, each lasting three months. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month. Abused Children in Maine Need a Voice

Kids in Maine's care are suffering abuse and sometimes being killed. The child protective system is leaving caseworkers, foster parents, children and other stakeholders unsupported. Walk a Mile in Their Shoes was solely founded to prevent the abuse and homicide of children that are involved with the system. We'd like to share what we've learned from listening sessions held across Maine and how we are supporting children under Maine's supervision.

Boat America is a National Association of Boating Law Administrators certificate class that offers an in-depth and interesting boating safety course, and provides the knowledge needed to obtain a boating certificate. Some insurance companies will also offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete this course. Introduction to Boating – Types of power boats, boating vocabulary, sailboats, paddle boats, powering boats, and engine types. Boating Law – Boat registration, regulations, hull identification numbers, required safety equipment, Federal boating law, state boating law, and reporting accidents. Safety Equipment – Life jackets, fire extinguishers, sound-producing devices, visual distress signals, anchors, and other safety equipment. Safe Operation and Navigation – Buoys and beacons, aids to navigation, navigation rules, docking, and the dangers of alcohol on the water. Boating Emergencies – Hypothermia, boating accidents, man overboard, capsizing, emergency radio calls, carbon monoxide dangers, and weather. Trailering – Types of trailers, lights, hitches, towing a trailer. Sports and Boating – Water-skiing, hunting and hunting gear, PWC operation, and other boating tips. #endoct

Maine Driving Dynamics

This two-class, five hour course offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. The course includes attitudes and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. The course is taught by a certified Maine Driving Dynamics instructor. The course format engages students with lectures, videos, and class discussions/participation. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving records. It is important that you arrive at class on time, otherwise, you will not receive credit.
