Whisper Soft Watercolor

with Joyce Amend

Soft edges melting into the background, colors fusing together in harmony, abstract images awakened with iridescent gold, nature embellished with patterns… These thoughts set the tranquil mood for this calming workshop of beautiful and serene loose watercolor paintings. You will create a series of small, unhurried paintings throughout the 3 sessions, suitable for framing, sharing, or just to enjoy. No need for detailed drawings – not in this course! Loose watercolor painting allows the inner artist to express the beauty of watercolors. You will bring your watercolor pan set to class and #8 and #2 round brushes or similar. Also bring a Sakura .01 Micron pen. All other supplies will be provided for a material fee of $10 payable to the instructor.( Michaels has some economical watercolor paint sets -Liquitex Basics is one- that you may want to consider if you don’t already have one.) Class size is limited. Register early!

Please note: previous attendees will not pay $10 material fee.

Do you love folk and country music? Then you need to learn a thing or two about how to play it! Discover up-picking, a technique used by Pete Seeger and other folk greats as well as the popular down-picking style, known variously as clawhammer or frailing. Along the way, you'll get the basics of reading tablature, a system of notating finger positioning and techniques to enhance your playing. You don't need a banjo ukulele to learn these styles (but it's fun to have one). What you do need is a playable ukulele tuned to GCEA, an iPad or computer capable of using Zoom, basic knowledge of how to play the ukulele including the ability to make smooth and seamless transitions between, at least, the C, F, Am, and G7 chords.
