Kids in Maine's care are suffering abuse and sometimes being killed. The child protective system is leaving caseworkers, foster parents, children and other stakeholders unsupported. Walk a Mile in Their Shoes was solely founded to prevent the abuse and homicide of children that are involved with the system. We'd like to share what we've learned from listening sessions held across Maine and how we are supporting children under Maine's supervision.

As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential. We are excited to connect our community with this wonderful blended training and certificate program. This training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies and equip you to work with children who qualify for services. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. Learners must complete all 12 online modules to be eligible to attend the Live Day on Friday Oct 11th from 8:30-4:40pm. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online bloodborne pathogen training. Child and Adult First Aid & CPR certification is required. In just 40 hours, our free remote training program can get you certified and on your way to a life-changing profession. Must be a Maine resident, and at least 18 years old with a high school diploma (or equivalent) to become certified.

Even after decades of historical research, the Salem Witch Hysteria episode of 1692 remains compelling, with many unanswered questions. Though the outbreak of the hysteria began in Salem Village, it quickly spread to other towns in Essex County, and was to result in over one hundred and forty accusations, and nineteen executions. Why did it happen, and how were events linked to the frontier war in Maine? The course will review what has been learned so far, and will also consider future directions for studies.
