Maine Driving Dynamics

This two-class, five hour course offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. The course includes attitudes and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. The course is taught by a certified Maine Driving Dynamics instructor. The course format engages students with lectures, videos, and class discussions/participation. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving records. It is important that you arrive at class on time, otherwise, you will not receive credit.

CPR/First Aid/AED Training

This American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED course uses a combination of video, lecture, and guided skill practice to teach participants to respond to cardiac and other health related emergency situations. Topics include basic first aid, response to environmental emergencies, warning signs of heart attack and stroke, CPR including AED training, and foreign object airway obstruction for adults, children, and infants. Certification is valid for two years. Participants should dress in comfortably fitting clothing that allows for movement, as the class includes both desk and floor work. No written test. Boat America is a National Association of Boating Law Administrators certificate class that offers an in-depth and interesting boating safety course, and provides the knowledge needed to obtain a boating certificate. Some insurance companies will also offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete this course. Introduction to Boating – Types of power boats, boating vocabulary, sailboats, paddle boats, powering boats, and engine types. Boating Law – Boat registration, regulations, hull identification numbers, required safety equipment, Federal boating law, state boating law, and reporting accidents. Safety Equipment – Life jackets, fire extinguishers, sound-producing devices, visual distress signals, anchors, and other safety equipment. Safe Operation and Navigation – Buoys and beacons, aids to navigation, navigation rules, docking, and the dangers of alcohol on the water. Boating Emergencies – Hypothermia, boating accidents, man overboard, capsizing, emergency radio calls, carbon monoxide dangers, and weather.
