According to the Medscape Coronavirus Resource Center, at least 44 states and the District of Columbia have begun expanding their contact tracing workforce. To help meet the need for training for contact tracers, we are offering this course, based on CDC and public health guidelines.This contact tracer training will provide you with a skill which is in demand on the job market. While taking this training does not guarantee that you will become employed as a contact tracer, the information and skills you learn in the course will provide you with skills necessary to be considered for employment.

This Contact Tracing Training course is a one-month online course to train people to get a job as a contact tracer.  

Some FAQs: 

Q. What will individuals be able to do after completing the training?

A. Successful completion will make the individual eligible for employment in a high-demand area. Preliminary reports suggest that 30 contact tracers per 100,000 residents are needed to help prevent further spread of COVID-19.

Q. Will this training be useful after the pandemic is under control?

A.  Yes. Contract tracers are always in demand. There is a need for this work whenever there are outbreaks of illness such as measles, smallpox, flu and other illnesses spread by person-to-person contact. The need is particularly high now due to COVID.

Q. How was the curriculum and training developed?

A.  The curriculum is aligned to specific training guidelines per the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The CDC guidelines are carefully monitored and adjustments are made to training as necessary when there are changes or updates in the CDC guidelines.

Pharmacy Technician Accelerated Training Course

This intensive program will prepare you to successfully take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be assisting the Pharmacist in every aspect of the daily running of the pharmacy: preparing medications, receiving and verifying prescriptions, helping customers, plus many other vital tasks. This is a high growth profession with great salaries and benefits. Due to the accelerated nature of this course, which runs approximately 8 to 10 weeks, it is recommended that students be able to grasp content and concepts quickly. Digital Literacy Certification IC3

York County Adult Education is offering an online, face to face, integrated educational training program where participants earn the IC3 Digital Literacy Credential.  The program uses a comprehensive curriculum and experienced instructors to develop: 

  • Occupational skills (computer literacy)      
  • Adult Education skills for the workplace (vocabulary, writing, communication, and speaking and listening)  

Once students pass all three IC3 computer exams; Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications and Living Online, they will be better prepared to work in an environment using technology, be ready for company specific technical training, and have a desirable credential to add to your resume.

This course builds knowledge and skill development in digital literacy and IT support: including hardware and software troubleshooting, operating systems, and communication and procedure. Participants earn two industry certifications: IC3® & CompTIA® A+. You will be prepared for employment as a computer user support specialist/help desk technician.

To qualify for the FREE program, you must be:

A resident of Maine

Ages 17-29 

Not enrolled in High School 

Unemployed or underemployed

Authorized to work in the U.S. 

Class schedule March 2, 2021- June 3, 2021, Tuesday and Thursday 5:00pm-8:00pm and Wednesday 5:00pm-6:00pm. Contact us to complete the required orientation and assessments before the class.
