Beginning Beekeeping (Spring 2018)

Calendar Apr 3, 2018 at 6:30 pm, runs for 6 weeks

You will learn what you need to begin beekeeping. We’ll cover tools, hive, location for an apiary, how to obtain bees and install them in the hive. A hive opening will be part of the class. You will learn about the life cycle of the bee, what they need to survive and how to care for them year-round. We will offer numerous opportunities to work with live bees in our apiaries so that you get some hand-on experience before your bees arrive. You will be able to purchase bees and equipment through the class, if you choose. One of the class sessions will be outdoors. “Bee” a part of this exciting hobby! If there is enough interest, a cooking with honey class may be added, but there will be an extra charge. Bill Turner is a 34 year veteran of beekeeping, and a former MA bee inspector. Tim Fisher, a retired engineer from Portsmouth Shipyard, has assisted in teaching this class for the last five years. (Required textbook: The Beekeeper’s Handbook, 4th edition, by Diana Sammataro and Alphonse Avitabile. We will purchase the textbook for you for an additional $29 or you may obtain your own copy) No class on 4/17/2018

Belly Dance - All Levels (Spring 2018)

Lose yourself in the captivating music and movement of Middle Eastern dance in this empowering and energizing class. From sharp & percussive to soft & fluid, you will learn some of the basic movements that make up the foundation of this dance form. Geared toward brand new students and those with some experience, this class will include a comprehensive breakdown of technique, traveling steps and turns, drills, and putting it all together in combinations. Belly Dance is studied and performed by women of all backgrounds and ages. Not only is it a beautiful art form and means of self-expression, it also increases flexibility, tones your abs and helps you to achieve grace, poise, balance and coordination. Please note the price is $65.00.

BHP: Behavioral Health Professional Certification - March (Spring 2018)

This certification course teaches individuals how to provide in-home support to children (4-18/21 years of age) with intellectual/developmental delays, Autism or major mental health diagnosis in their home and community – this class meets the state requirements for certification as a BHP for job placement. High school diploma or equivalency is required to attend this 35-hour BHP training. CPR/First Aid is needed in conjunction with this course for certification. Must be taken before course is completed. See dates on page 3. CPR cost is included in the cost of this course. Wednesdays, March 8, 5:30 - 8:30 pm - 12 weeks

Boston Quincy Market- Bus Trip (Spring 2018)
