Digital Literacy Certification IC3

York County Adult Education is offering an online, face to face, integrated educational training program where participants earn the IC3 Digital Literacy Credential.  The program uses a comprehensive curriculum and experienced instructors to develop: 

  • Occupational skills (computer literacy)      
  • Adult Education skills for the workplace (vocabulary, writing, communication, and speaking and listening)  

Once students pass all three IC3 computer exams; Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications and Living Online, they will be better prepared to work in an environment using technology, be ready for company specific technical training, and have a desirable credential to add to your resume.

Beginner Beekeeping

Tech Hire- CompTIA A+ Academy

Already Tech savvy? Ready for a challenge? Do you want to start a career in the IT field?

This course builds knowledge and skill development in digital literacy and IT support: including hardware and software troubleshooting, operating systems, and communication and procedure. Participants earn two industry certifications: IC3® & CompTIA® A+. You will be prepared for employment as a computer user support specialist/help desk technician.

To qualify for the FREE program, you must be:

A resident of Maine

Ages 17-29 

Not enrolled in High School 

Unemployed or underemployed

Authorized to work in the U.S. 

Class schedule March 2, 2021- June 3, 2021, Tuesday and Thursday 5:00pm-8:00pm and Wednesday 5:00pm-6:00pm. Contact us to complete the required orientation and assessments before the class.

Drone Flying Skills

Hands on flying - starting with opening the box to gaining confidence in flying without losing the drone, shattering a vase of flowers, or frightening the cat.  This is a 3 week, in-person, all ages class, which will be held in the cafe of Marshwood High School. Bring your own drone.

Commercial Remote Pilot Certification

Prepare for commercial remote pilot certification test (Part 107). Tom will teach students who want to earn income as a drone pilot to pass an FAA aeronautical knowledge test.  This 6 week online course comes with a study guide.  Participants must be at least 15 years old.

Beginner Drone Flying

This 15-hour blended course is designed for anyone using or looking to use drones. We cover the operation of various models, hands-on flight practice, uses and applications across industries, FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations, operational risks, insurance, career opportunities and much more. If you are currently working, or considering a career in, real estate, construction, transportation, agriculture, insurance, public safety, photography, media, inspection, etc. or want to start a business, you’ll learn how your industry can be transformed in new, cost-effective ways. We will discuss how the citizens of Maine are using these unmanned aircraft in their businesses and how best you can employ drones in your business or start a new one. Prerequisites: Must have a minimum of 8th grade English reading and writing level, and comfortable using a computer and internet browser.

Note: This will be a combined class with two (2) virtual on-line classes via Zoom then one (1) face-to-face flying day.
