Whether you are a new home owner and are trying to figure out where to start or you are looking to revamp your existing landscape, a garden coach is an invaluable resource.  A garden coach is someone with the passion and expertise to mentor you through garden projects, saving money, time, and potential pitfalls. This 1-on-1, 1 hour session takes place at your location/garden of your choice. We appologize for the error in price in our print catalogue.

Some topics covered, as needed:

- Suggestions for improving your current garden space

- Plant identification

- Plant requirements: where they grow best and what they need to thrive

- Basic garden design: landscape or vegetable garden

- Troubleshooting problem areas

- Pruning basics

- Weeding basics

- Organic practices for soil health and pest control

- Mulching

- Dividing perennials

- Plant selection assistance at a nursery

By the end of the session, you will have a comprehensive action plan to tackle your next DIY gardening project with confidence. Move forward with confidence with a garden coach by your side.  Let’s get started and make your garden thrive!

Choose your 1 hour time slot: Monday 9 to noon, Wednesday 3-6pm, or by appointment. From April 15 through the summer.

Are you concerned about “bias” in the news media as well as online misinformation/disinformation and the effects on our society? Explore these critical topics in a nonpartisan manner from a “news literacy” perspective and discover some useful skills from the world of news and information literacy. This six part course offers an introductory “overview” session followed by five “deeper-dive” topics exploring the “ABC’s” of news literacy. Can’t commit to all six? That’s ok! Come to the first one, and then to which ever other classes you can! But fair warning: if you come to the first, you won’t want to miss the rest!

Duncan Perry, who has taught more than 700 students of all ages, will introduce you to essential chords and playing techniques using familiar songs. There are lots of laughs along the way and learning to play an instrument is good for your brain! You will need a playable ukulele and an electronic tuner or a tuner app. And when folks hear you play this happy instrument, well, they just have to smile! Boat America is a National Association of Boating Law Administrators certificate class that offers an in-depth and interesting boating safety course, and provides the knowledge needed to obtain a boating certificate.

Some insurance companies will also offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete this course.

Introduction to Boating – Types of power boats, boating vocabulary, sailboats, paddle boats, powering boats, and engine types.

Boating Law – Boat registration, regulations, hull identification numbers, required safety equipment, Federal boating law, state boating law, and reporting accidents.

Safety Equipment – Life jackets, fire extinguishers, sound-producing devices, visual distress signals, anchors, and other safety equipment.

Safe Operation and Navigation – Buoys and beacons, aids to navigation, navigation rules, docking, and the dangers of alcohol on the water.

Boating Emergencies – Hypothermia, boating accidents, man overboard, capsizing, emergency radio calls, carbon monoxide dangers, and weather.

Trailering – Types of trailers, lights, hitches, towing a trailer.

Sports and Boating – Water-skiing, hunting and hunting gear, PWC operation, and other boating tips.
